We’ve been in the business of throwing parties for Auckland kids for the past 20 years. That’s why we thought we’d share our top five tips for party planning so that you can ensure your child enjoys a day full of magical, enchanting moments.
1. Plan the length of your party, according to your child’s age – remember that when your baby is little (age 1 – 3) they don’t need a long celebration, just a great birthday party. That’s why we recommend a party length of about two hours for this age group. For three – five year olds, they can handle a bit more excitement so in our experience 2.5 hours is the ideal length. For children aged five to eight, give them a much longer celebration. We think about three – four hours is the ideal length.
2. Book your venue according to the seasons – there’s lots of awesome Auckland venues for hire that provide excellent set ups for kids parties. Another great option is your local community centre or, if it’s summer, head to your child’s favourite Auckland park. Alternatively your home is a great space – it’s where your child feels most comfortable.
3. Get the party invites out nice and early and think imaginatively to deliver more party fun. To ensure your kids’ friends and parents have lots of time to plan, we recommend sending your invitations out a minimum of two weeks in advance. Three weeks is the ideal time because your guests can plan.
4. Choose a party theme and hire professional entertainment. What is your child’s favourite book or movie character? Who do they love most? Perhaps your child loves flower fairies or superheroes. Whatever magical, fantastical things they are into this year can help you decide on a party theme. 5. Make or order a cake and think imaginatively. A great cake will make every kids’ birthday party memorable for a lifetime. That’s why we encourage you to order or decide what cake you are making early on so you can deliver a real show-stopper. Once you’ve planned the detail, chosen your theme, booked the venue, sent out the invitations, hired the entertainers and decided on the cake, the final touch to create the perfect kids party is to turn your imagination on and think about the little ways that you can bring the birthday party to life.
